Events
- Kepler made observations of the emerging comet , which later received the name " Halley's comet " [1] .
- The English Moscow Trading Company hired Captain Henry Hudson to search for the northern route from England to Asia. In May, the Hudson ship sailed into the Arctic Ocean , reached Greenland and tried to find a passage to the Pacific Ocean , but found nothing and returned in the fall in England [2] . Subsequently, Hudson led four more expeditions for the same purpose, but never reached his goal.
Publications
- The Croatian mathematician Marin Getaldic made an attempt to restore the lost chapters of the “ Conic Sections ” of Apollonius in his book Supplementum Apollonii Galli seu exsuscitata Apollonii Pergaei Tactionum geometriae pars reliqua . In the same years he published another treatise: “ Variorum problematum Collectio ”, which contains solutions to 42 mathematical problems [3] .
