The picture is a chest portrait of Lieutenant General Adam Petrovich Ozharovsky from the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace [1] .

During the Patriotic War of 1812, Major General Ozharovsky was an adjutant general and was in the main apartment of the 1st Western Army, distinguished himself in the Battle of Borodino and commanded separate detachments when Napoleon was finally expelled from Russia . During overseas campaigns for wallpaper differences, he was promoted to lieutenant general [2] .

Depicted in the general vice - officer of the Life Guards of the Cavalry Regiment of the sample of 1814, on epaulettes the monogram of Emperor Alexander I. On the left on the chest is a general adjutant aiguillet , on the neck there is a cross of the Order of St. George of the 3rd class, on board the uniform crosses of the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle of the 2nd degree, the Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree with diamonds, the Bavarian Military Order of Maximilian Joseph , the Württemberg Order “For Military Merit” , the Sardinian Order of St. Mauritius and Lazarus , the Prussian Order of Pur le Merit and the Order of St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree (the Order of St. Anna and St. Vladimir are worn in violation of the rules of wearing - they must be located higher foreign); a silver medal “In memory of the Patriotic War of 1812” on the St. Andrew’s ribbon , a bronze noble medal “In memory of the Patriotic War of 1812” on the Vladimir ribbon , crosses of the Austrian Military Order of Maria Theresa of the 3rd degree and the French Order of St. Louis and the star Orders of St. Alexander Nevsky and St. Vladimir 2nd degree [3] . Despite the fact that on August 7, 1820, the Ozharovsky General Staff Attestation Committee was included in the list of “generals whose service does not belong before the Committee considered”, the actual decision to paint his portrait was made earlier, since the Dow was already on April 14 and June 30, 1820 a fee was paid for this work. The finished portrait was taken to the Hermitage on September 7, 1825 [4] .
