- Galileo Galilei published the book “ Letters on sunspots ” ( Italian. Storia e dimonstrazioni intorno alle macchie solari et loro accidenti ), in which he openly spoke in favor of the Copernican system [1] [2] .

- The Italian philosopher and economist Antonio Serra , who was imprisoned for an anti-Spanish conspiracy, wrote ahead of his age there “ A short treatise on the means of supplying gold and silver to the kingdom in abundance that do not mine ” ( Italian Breve trattato delle cavse che possono far abbondare li regni d'oro e d'argento dove non sono miniere ). In it, he was the first to formulate an idea of the balance between the market for goods and services and the movement of capital, and recommended that the deficit of a cash coin be filled by encouraging exports. He argued that the true source of national wealth is not the presence of gold mines or raw materials, but the freedom of commerce [4] .
