Biography
Born in the family of the President of the Regional Council of the Province of Luxembourg, Paul-Michel de Favreau (1826-1901) and Claudine de Waha de Bayonville (1832-1912). His father received the Belgian nobility with the title of Baron, transmitted at birth.
He graduated from the University of Liege with a doctoral degree.
From 1882 to 1891, he was a member of the Benda-Jeanneret City Council from the Catholic Party, from 1882 to 1884 at the same time he was a member of the provincial council of Luxembourg.
He was a director of various companies. From this position, he is particularly interested in expanding trade and industry.
In 1884-1900 elected to the House of Representatives from the district of Marsh en Famenne, and from 1900 until the end of his life - in the Belgian Senate from the province of Luxembourg. From 1908 to 1910 - Deputy Chairman, in the years 1911-1922. - Chairman of the Senate.
From 1896 to 1907 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium. The greatest attention was paid to the Belgian colonies in Africa and China, where he supported the Belgian companies in the construction of the Beijing-Hankou railway.
In 1907, King Leopold II was appointed state minister.
