Gornichon [1] , or tanager songbird [1] ( lat. Calyptophilus frugivorus ) is a rare bird species of the family Calyptophilidae . Haitian Island Endemic .

Distributed in the mountain rain forests of the Central Cordillera of the Dominican Republic . Previously inhabited the Samana Peninsula and Gonav Island. In the southwest of the island, it is replaced by Calyptophilus tertius , which was previously considered a subspecies of the gherkin.
Bird 17-18 cm long, taking into account the long tail. The upper body is brown, the lower is white. Small areas of yellow are between the eyes and the beak and on the wings.
