Story

Catherine Newbury is a legendary presenter of a night talk show with a long-term career in comedy, but recently the ratings of her show have been declining steadily. The president of the network, Caroline Morton, tells Catherine that if she doesn’t change the concept of the show, she will fire her. To save work, Katherine hires Molly Patel in his writing staff. At first, Molly found it difficult to prove her worth, but over time she gave a lot of good ideas. Show ratings begin to rise.

Catherine learns that Caroline in her place wants to take the young popular comedian Daniel Tennant. This infuriates her, and she ignores the demands of the network and decides to stay.

An email from one of the writers, Charlie, that talks about his affair with Catherine while her husband, Walter, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, leaked to the network. Catherine dismisses Molly after she says she is mistreating her.

In the end, Catherine is building relationships with Walter and other writers. She then confesses to the audience in her novel, but her sincerity and passion for the show convince Caroline to let her stay. Later, Katherine apologizes to Molly and hires her back.

A year later, the show continues to diversify. Molly becomes co-lead with Catherine. The show has never been more successful.
