Biography

Pietropaolo was born in the town of Briatico , but soon his family moved to Milan . In his youth, he became interested in the ideas of anarchism .

March 23, 1921 Pietropaolo was arrested due to participation in a political skirmish, which killed 20 people. Sentenced to lengthy imprisonment, he was released from prison in 1932 under an amnesty program. After two years of internship in Vibo Valentia, he returned to Milan [1] .

At the end of 1943, he began working as Commercial Director at Officine Guidetti, a plant for the production of engines and generator sets. At that time, he began to fight the fascist regime under the pseudonym Luciano. Pietropaolo gathered around him a group of officers and created an anti-fascist campaign committee. Together with him, the committee included Sinogrant Castiglioni, Prospero Saracchi, Bruno Passoni and Luigi Disaccati, who will be the backbone of the 2nd Anarchist partisan detachment Errico Malatesta , which was part of the Brutstsi Malatesta brigade [2] .

The Malatesta team quickly expanded its operations from Santa Cristina and Bisson to Corteolona, Inverno, Monteleone and Bisson; later armed groups will be formed in Mede and Lomello. The brigade publishes its own underground newspaper, entitled The First Union, later renamed the Revolution. The unit is joined by a group of Slovak soldiers who deserted from submission to the collaborative government of Joseph Tiso [3] .

On March 2, 1945, Pietropaolo was arrested by the SS and transferred to the San Vittore Prison in Milan, where he was tortured.

After his release, Mario Perelli and Germinal Concordia Michel founded the Italian Libertarian Federation (ILF) with his like-minded people. In 1947 , after the left was ousted from the government and the social-democratic split of Saragat , the ILF split. In 1956, after the uprising in Hungary , fearing the restoration of the clerical fascist regime, despite some hesitation, Pietropaolo approved the entry of Soviet troops into the country.

Pietropaolo died in Milan on January 1, 1965 .
