French Football Cup 2018/2019 is the 102nd French Cup held by the French Football Federation . The tournament was attended by clubs in France , as well as from its overseas departments and territories ( Guadeloupe , Mayotte , Martinique , New Caledonia , Reunion , Saint-Martin , Saint-Pierre and Miquelon , French Guiana and French Polynesia ).

The reigning champion, PSG , having won the past four cups in a row, lost in the final for the René penalty, who won his third French Cup and the first since 1971. [2]

Commands

The first six rounds and preliminary rounds are organized by regional leagues and overseas territories, which allow teams from their league to enter the tournament at any time up to the third round. Teams from Nacional 3 start the tournament from the third round, teams from Nacional 2 from the fourth, and teams from Nacional from the fifth. [3]

In the seventh round , 20 teams of League 2 join the 145 teams selected from regional leagues, 11 teams selected from overseas territories.

In the 1/32 finals , 20 clubs of League 1 join the selected teams.

Seventh Round

The draw of the seventh round consisted of two parts. First, teams from overseas territories were brought together with one of the teams from the structure of the French League, who applied for potential entry into leagues of overseas territories. [4] The main draw took place the next day. [5] [6]

Eighth Round

The draw of the eighth round consisted of two parts. First, the remaining team from overseas territory, Eglon ( Martinique ), was brought down from one of the teams ( Saint Genevieve Sports ) from the French League, who applied for potential entry into leagues of overseas territories. [14] As in the rounds, the main draw was divided into 6 regional groups, and the division mainly ensured the equal distribution of clubs from different levels and, secondly, the grouping by geographic location. [8] Entente Cre-Ust and Ville are the lowest-rated teams remaining in the tournament at this stage, level 8 (Regional League 3).

Matches were held on December 8 and 9, 2018, three matches were postponed until next weekend. [15] [16]

The draw of the ninth round (1/32 final) took place on December 10, 2018. 20 teams of League 1 joined the tournament at this stage. The draw was divided into four groups to ensure equal distribution of teams from each level, with geographical proximity a secondary factor. [25] [26]

Olympic Strasbourg and Longo are the lowest rated teams remaining in the tournament at this stage, level 7 (Regional League 2). Olympic Strasbourg began the performance from the first round, therefore it was in the competition longer than Longo.

Noisy-le-Gran and Viri-Chatillon are the lowest rated teams remaining in the tournament at this stage, level 6 (Regional League 1).
