Student career
Kentucky Wildcats
Hamid was offered a sports scholarship by six universities, including Arizona University , Indiana University , Kansas University , University of Connecticut, University of Syracuse , but Diallo chose the University of Kentucky . On January 7, 2017, he joined the University of Kentucky. Hamidu participated in training, but did not play more than one game in the 2016/2017 season, since he entered the university too late. Diallo was one of the players who applied for the 2017 NBA Draft , despite not having played a single game for the university, but later withdrew as scouts claimed in their reports that he would not be selected by any team in the first draft round.
In the 2017/2018 season, he scored an average of 10.0 points per game and made 3.6 rebounds.
NBA Career
Oklahoma City Thunder (2018-present)
On June 21, 2018, he was selected in the NBA draft under the 45th number by the Brooklyn Nets team. The rights to it were subsequently transferred to Charlotte Hornets , and then to Oklahoma City Thunder . November 19, 2018 scored a record 18 points, along with two interceptions, selection and transfer in the match against the Sacramento Kings (113–117). [1] .
On February 16, 2019, Diallo won the slam dunk contest , gaining 98 points in the first round and 88 in the final. [2] .
International Career
As part of the youth national team, the United States won a gold medal at the 2016 American Youth Basketball Championship and a bronze medal at the 2017 World Youth Basketball Championship .
