Biography

Makelele is a native of Zaire , the modern Democratic Republic of the Congo . He graduated from the French Academy "Melun", in which he lived in the same room with Lilian Thuram .

Club career

At the age of 19, Nantes became his first professional club in his career. As part of the "canaries" in 1995 became the champion of France . In 1997 he moved to the Marseille Olympic . In 1998, Makelele became a player in the Spanish Celta , and later moved to Real Madrid . In which he won a place in the first team. At Real Madrid, Claude won two Spanish championships , the Champions League , and subsequently the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup . However, due to dissatisfaction with the requirement to increase salaries, Makelele left the club [1] .

In 2003, he moved to the London Chelsea . At Chelsea, Makelele became one of the team leaders, and after joining the team Mourinho was a key figure . Team Career

In 1995, Gerard Houlier invited Makelele to the French national team for a friendly match.
