Black Sergey Davydovich (July 5, 1937, Nuova Sulitsa, Romania (from June 1940, Novoselitsa, Ukrainian SSR) - June 10, 2012, Moscow, Russia) - a prominent Soviet and Russian geological prospector. He devoted the bulk of his professional life to the search for diamond deposits in Yakutia and Angola. Honored Worker of the Diamonds of Russia-Sakha Joint-Stock Company (now ALROSA PJSC). Discoverer of two diamond deposits: Botuobinskoye and Nyurbinskoye. He took part in the exploration of the Mir (deep horizons) and Dachnaya kimberlite pipes, and large East and Solur diamonds buried in large placers. He participated in the development of a unified methodology for the search and exploration of primary diamond deposits. Organized the introduction of seismic methods for the search for kimberlite pipes. Author and co-author of more than 15 scientific papers.

Biography
Born in the territory of pre-war Romania in a family of rural teachers.
Father - Black Davyd Dorofteyevich (1905-1960), a rural teacher, and later the school principal Podvirnoye, Novoselitsky district. He was awarded the Badge of Honor.
Mother - Chernaya Feodosiya Ivanovna (1904-1987), primary school teacher p. Pivot. For many years of conscientious work, she was awarded the title of Honorary Teacher of the Ukrainian SSR.
The family had three brothers: the eldest Eugene, the middle Sergey, the younger Valery.
In 1960, Sergei graduated from Lviv University. Ivan Franko with a degree in Mineral Exploration. After graduation, he was sent to work in the Ivanovo integrated exploration expedition of the Krasnoyarsk Geological Department, Kansk.
Having worked there from 1960 to 1966, he went the way of professional development from a collector to a senior geologist-chief of the detachment. He was engaged in the search for deposits of copper, rock crystal and derivatives for building materials in the areas of the construction of the Abakan-Tayshet railway line and the Tuymazy-Irkutsk oil pipeline.
In 1966, he was seconded to the Botuobinsky Exploration Expedition of the Yakutsk Geological Department, the city of Yakutsk. Taking an active part in geological surveys, he worked in its composition in various positions until the end of 1979. Over the years, the Botuobinsk Exploration Expedition discovered: a buried diamond deposit - the pipe named after the 23rd Congress of the CPSU, a kimberlite core - An-21, a loose diamond deposit Novinka, a unique primary deposit - the International pipe, and the kimberlite pipe “International” Country ".
As the party’s chief geologist as part of the Botuobinsky expedition, S. D. Cherny directly conducted appraisal work on the Dachnaya diamondiferous kimberlite pipe, which in 2000 was recognized as an industrial deposit.
Since November 1979, Sergey Davydovich was appointed the chief geologist of the newly formed Irelyakh Geophysical Expedition (IGFE). During this period, under his leadership, the development and implementation of a complex of geological, geophysical and seismic surveys is carried out to identify deposits that occur in particularly difficult conditions and were missed by earlier searches. They made it possible to detect numerous kimberlite pipes, such as: Makatskaya, Daldynskaya, Festival-Vostochnaya, Kusovskaya, Irelyakhskaya and others.
The diamond content in the Irelyakh pipe, in particular, was higher than in the previously discovered Zarnitsa deposit.
Namely, thanks to the application of advanced seismic exploration techniques for searches, in parallel with diamond surveys in 1984-1985. IHFE discovered two hydrocarbon deposits: Severo-Nelbinskoye and Machchobinskoye.
In 1987, after the merger of the Irelyakh expedition into the Botuobinsky expedition, Black S. D. was first appointed chief geologist, and from 1998 to 2002 - the chief of the enlarged Botuobinsky exploration expedition.
Under the leadership of the chief geologist of the Black Botuobinsky expedition, two new rich diamond deposits were discovered, both in content and quality: in 1994 the Botuobinskoye deposit, in 1996 the Nyurbinskoye deposit; other significant results have been achieved. Open: the Mesozoic buried diamond placer “Solur”, “Markhinskoye” kimberlite body - the third diamondiferous kimberlite body in the Nakynskoye field, the diamond deposit “Dyakhtaraskaya”, the new kimberlite body — lived “Yuzhnaya”.
In 1992, the Botuobinsk expedition became part of the Yakutalmaz production and scientific association, which in 1993 was reorganized together with a number of other state enterprises into the Diamonds of Russia Sakha joint-stock company (now PJSC ALROSA). In the course of its activities, PJSC ALROSA acquired blocks of shares in a number of foreign companies, including the Angolan companies KATOKA and KAKOLU.
In the early 2000s, S. D. Black was sent to work in Angola:
- From 2002 to 2004, Head of the Geological Department of Katoka. During this period, additional exploration and increase in reserves of the company’s field were carried out;
- In 2007-2009 he worked as the chief geologist of the KAKOLU company, which was engaged in the search for new diamond deposits. During the search, with the participation of Sergey Davydovich, about 60 kimberlite occurrences were tested and discovered.
