Artyom Valeryevich Firsanov (b. October 10, 1996) - Russian film and television film director, who became famous in the confrontation with VGIK during the filming and defense of the thesis “Seven”.

Biography
Born October 10, 1996 in Moscow . Immediately after leaving school in 2014 he entered VGIK , the directing department, the department of non-fiction films (workshop of Igor Grigoriev and Tatyana Yurina). With his first short directorial work “I Will Be Returning Sure” in 2015, I took part in the “ Window to Europe ” festival. With subsequent work, he participated in the student program of Flahertiana , at the competition-festival "Intonation" (St. Petersburg), "Movement" (Omsk) and " Artdocfest " [1] . Co-author of many director's works is screenwriter Valery Pecheikin .
During the training, he starred in the short film "Captive of Circumstances" as an actor (dir. A. Klyuk, 2016).
Since 2019 - director of the acting laboratory at Gogol school.
Firsanov came to fame in connection with the filming of his thesis - the film "Seven", which was originally supposed to talk about the " Gogol Center " by Kirill Serebrennikov and the case of "The Seventh Studio." According to Firsanov, at first the administration of the VGIK training studio was in every way interfering with his shooting, and on the eve of the action “To be Kirill Serebrennikov,” announced in the initially agreed plan, the VGIK leadership forbade the shooting [2] [3] . In such a situation, the conflict itself became the theme of the film.
By the time of defense (June 28, 2019), the film "Seven" was at the center of a full-fledged scandal, which many media began to show interest in. The university administration did not allow viewers to pre-show, and Firsanov received a rating of “satisfactory”, although the reviewer, Vitaly Mansky , rated the film quite high. “In the film, I saw with amazing accuracy and trepidation the created world of my past, which continues to be present for my alma mater ,” wrote Mansky in a review. “I saw and heard instantly, from the very first frames and sounds.” Firsanov filed an appeal, but her demands were not satisfied, and the administration called the National Guard under the appeal commission [4] [5] [6] .
