Biography

Silver medalist of the 1948 British Championship . Winner of the UK Correspondence Championship (1944-1945).

As part of the England team, he participated in the 1939 Chess Olympiad and a number of international matches. As part of the national team of Great Britain, he participated in radiomatch with the USSR national team (1946).

Participant in a number of major international tournaments. Winner of tournaments in Baarna (Group C, 1947), Paignton (1954), Hastings (Group B, 1962/63 ), Whitby (1963), Torshavn (1967) and Jersey (1975) .). [one]

Eight-time champion of Warwickshire County (from 1938 to 1957).

  • Daughter - Margaret (Peggy) , chess player, champion of Great Britain 1966
    • Son-in-law is Peter Clark , one of the strongest chess players in Britain from the 1950s and 1960s.
