One of the activities of OIV is the compilation of global statistics in its field.
The OIV is located in Paris , and as of 2013 there were 45 member states. [2]
History
The early OIV predecessors are international conferences held in response to the 19th century phylloxera epidemic, in particular the Montpellier Congress, which brought together five states from October 26 to October 30, 1874. [3] The idea of an international organization arose several times over the following decades, and finally, on November 29, 1924, eight countries signed an agreement regarding the establishment of the International Wine Office ( Office international du vin , OIV) in Paris. Subsequently, the agreement was submitted to the participating States for ratification . The first working session was held at the Salon de Horlog on December 3, 1927. September 4, 1958 the name of the organization was changed to the International Bureau of Viticulture and Winemaking ( Office International de la Vigne et du Vin ).
The current International Organization of Viticulture and Winemaking was created in accordance with the agreement of 35 countries of April 3, 2001 and replaced the International Bureau of Viticulture and Winemaking. This agreement entered into force on January 1, 2004. [2]
The scientific definition of wine color
The International Organization of Viticulture and Winemaking provides methods for assessing the color of wine using a spectrophotometer and calculating indicators in the LAB format. [four]
Solutions
In 2013, the OIV adopted a resolution that “recommended the development and development of new varieties that have multiple [...] loci of resistance to reduce the risk of survival and development of more aggressive strains of pathogens”, especially for downy and powdery mildew. [five]
