The species is common in the tropical mountain rain forests of New Guinea .
Small birds with small conical beaks, rounded wings, a short, square tail and small legs. The body is 17 cm long and weighs 50–77 g. The head is a reddish-brown color. The front of the back, wings and tail are light brown. Abdomen, chest, back of gray-yellow color. Males have a blue fleshy growth over the beak [2] .
Birds live in a tropical rainforest. They eat fruits, occasionally they can supplement the diet with insects. The breeding season lasts from May to October.
