William Russell Becklin ( born William Russell Becklean ; born , ) is an American rowing helmsman who played for the US national rowing team in the mid-1950s. Champion of the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne , winner and winner of regattas of national importance. Also known as a businessman and financial analyst.

Biography
William Becklin was born on June 23, 1936 in Kansas City , Missouri .
While studying at the Phillips Academy in Exeter, he was engaged in wrestling and was a helper in a rowing crew. Having entered Yale University , he practiced boxing for one year and at the same time continued to take part in rowing competitions as a helmsman, was a member of the local Yale Bulldogs rowing team, and took part in various student regattas several times.
The highest success in rowing at the adult international level was achieved in the 1956 season, when he joined the main team of the American national team and, thanks to a series of successful performances, was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympics in Melbourne . As part of the G-8 crew, he outranked all his rivals in the final, including being almost two seconds ahead of the closest pursuers from Canada, and thereby won the Olympic gold medal [1] .
In 1957, being the helm of the Yale Eight, he won the traditional student regatta "Oriental Sprints", including taking over the team from Harvard.
He graduated from the university in 1958, receiving a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering. He later received an MBA from Harvard Business School .
He served in the U.S. Navy , was involved in the control system of nuclear submarines and ships of the country.
With a Chartered Financial Analyst certificate, he later proved to be a financial analyst. He was an employee of such large companies as Kidder, Peabody & Co. , Bache & Co. , served as managing director and head of the technology group at Tucker Anthony [2] .
