In 1998 he graduated from the secondary special music school at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov in the class “choral conducting”. Legkov) and “opera-symphonic conducting” (2009, class V. S. Sinaisky) .

In 1999, he organized and became the artistic director of the St. Petersburg Voices Youth Chamber Choir, which became the laureate of many international and all-Russian music competitions.

In 2005, he was awarded the Prize of the Government of St. Petersburg as the conductor of children's performances. 2010-2011 - Laureate of the St. Petersburg Government Prize for work on children's musical performances “The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids” and “The History of Kai and Gerda”.

In 2003, he taught vocal and choral singing at the M. Bezhard Ballet School (Lausanne, Switzerland).

From 2009 to 2018, he was the artistic director of the student symphony orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov.

Since 2009 - Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra for Children and Youth . In 2018, he headed the Philharmonic for children and youth.

Since 2009 - artistic director and chief conductor of the Tavrichesky International Symphony Orchestra (Tavricheskaya Chapel), which conducts active concert activities in Russia and abroad. Together with the team he gives concerts in the most prestigious halls of Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, France, and China. In July 2017, the Tauride Orchestra received the status of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Leningrad Region.

The main task of the Tauride Symphony Orchestra is to promote the works of Russian and world musical heritage.

The team of the Tauride Symphony Orchestra works under the patronage of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the orchestra is given the right to use the logo of the Government of the Russian Federation in its activities.

At the end of 2013, Mikhail Golikov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria for the large-scale cultural project Symphony of the Caucasus.

The organizer of various educational programs and master classes in Russia and abroad, is actively engaged in the popularization of classical music among children and youth audiences, works on the jury of Russian and international youth music competitions.
