Origin of title
Named April 29, 1965 on the Azov Sea , in connection with the location in the south of Moscow [2] .
History
Earlier, a part of the street was called Bolotnikovskiy passage, along Bolotnikovskaya street perpendicular [2] . The section from Nakhimovskiy Prospect to the intersection with Bolotnikovskaya Street is the former Bolotnikovsky Lane of the working village Volkhonka-ZIL, which arose around the village Volkhonka in the 1950s. When in the 1960s the neighboring villages joined Moscow and mass housing construction began here, the lane was extended to new quarters and called Azovskaya Street (1966). Contrary to the custom of the name of the streets of new quarters, this name is not connected either with the territory or with the people who lived here. The history of the construction of Moscow in the 1960s was reflected in the appearance of the streets in the area. Between the five-story building blocks, both block and brick, later, tall buildings of 9, 12, 17 floors appeared.
