The Pokrovsky Monastery ( Swede. Heliga Gudsmoders beskydd kloster , Serbian. Manastir Pokrova , Presvet St. Mary or the Swede. Smedjeryds kloster , Serb. Manastir Smedörid ) is the first Orthodox Orthodox monastery of the Serbian Scandinavian Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Halt region of Chaldarius, on the frontier of Khaledarius Sledјerid . History
In 2000, a farm in the town of Smedjeryd near Lake in Halland province was acquired with the blessing of Bishop Dosifei (Motiki) to create a convent in it and at the same time as a residence for the ruling bishop of the British-Scandinavian Diocese [3] [2] . The farm area is about nine hectares [3] .
The priest Velíš Vasić (Veliša Vasic) acted as the builder and trustee of the monastery and, having received construction permission from the local municipality, built the Byzantine-style Church of Elijah the Prophet in the courtyard of the complex designed by the architect Peđe Ristića in 2014 [4] . In 2012, a small bell tower was erected on the territory of the monastery [5] . Also prepared a place for the construction of the church of St. Paraskeva. It is planned that in the future the Cathedral of St. Trifon will become the most capacious church of the complex [6] .
The project for the reconstruction of the complex was carried out by a Serbian architect from Malmo Daniel Zaraic (Danijel raerajić) [7] . The architect of the monastery gate, decorated with mosaics and colored glass lanterns, is Svetozar Pandurovic [8] . Reconstructed premises for exhibitions, seminars; equipped library and a museum to accommodate the heritage of Marko Milunovic-Pipera [9] .
In 2003, the Serbian academician Matia Bečković visited the monastery [10] . The monastery regularly hosts meetings of painters and cultural figures [11] .
The abbess of Matrona (in the world of Yanja Vucic; born April 23, 1948) is the abbess of the monastery.
