In a short period of time, under the leadership of the vice-president of the KGB Group A Community , the KGB - FSB Vladimir Nikolayevich Shiryaev [1] , who was the ideologist and curator of the project in 1995-2010, Russian Special Forces went from a large-scale “combat leaflet” to an authoritative publication sovereign patriotic orientation.

Since the fall of 1998, Special Forces of Russia has also been released in electronic form. His special correspondents and journalistic brigades repeatedly traveled to Chechnya and Tajikistan, Bosnia and Kosovo, and other places of military conflicts.

According to the president of the International Association of Veterans of the Anti-Terror Special Forces Alpha, deputy of the Moscow City Duma Colonel Sergei Goncharov, the specifics of the publication is “to combine the special forces approach to reality and an exceptionally high intellectual level, the ability to work as a team. We would be too presumptuous if, having decided to publish a newspaper, we imagined that, possessing organizational or combat skills, we could also master the printed word. It was necessary to find people who would be the same professionals in their field as the Alfovites. I think it succeeded ... " [2]

In June 2010, after a sudden death in the workplace of V.N. Shiryaev Alfa Council made staff changes.
