Beginning of development

The name was given on August 2, 1963 in honor of the Soviet cosmonautics . In this area several “space” names were formed at once: Gagarin , Tereshkova , Titov , Tsiolkovsky Streets, Cosmonauts Square , Filipchenko Street (formerly Cosmonauts Lane).

Until the 1960s, the village of Mirny was located along the end of the current Cosmonauts Street. He became part of the 9th microdistrict of the North-Western residential area, along which most of the street passes. Basically, the construction was carried out by 5-story brick and panel houses. Houses on the odd side of the street are located in the 5th, 4th, 12th and 11th microdistricts , on the even side - in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th and 9th microdistricts .

At the beginning of March 1971, on the corner of Kosmonavtov Street (house number 28) and Tereshkova , the Cosmos cinema with 600 seats was opened (until 2007, the Perekrestok youth club, later the Tsenopad store, now Pyaterochka store).

In 1974, on the corner with Tereshkova Street, the Zvezdniy Ice Sports Palace opened.

In 1977, a hospital was opened for the NLMK medical unit (house No. 39).

New Social and Cultural Center

Cosmonauts Street, 9th microdistrict

Later, in the late 1970s , when the district was already formed, Lipetskgrazhdanproekt compacted the building. The socio-cultural center of the North-Western residential area was established - in the 9th microdistrict .

Five 14-storey residential buildings with attached shops built according to individual projects (architect B.P. Kantsane , G.M. Aleksandrov and T.K. Sokolova) became the dominant feature. These houses finally concealed Mirny .

Nearby appeared the market of the 9th microdistrict (house No. 96; architect Yu. D. Serov), later renamed the “Soviet Market”, a supermarket (house No. 98; now the shopping center “Noyabrsky”; architect R. D. Mustafinov ), Vinnitsa cinema (Tornado club; now Miratorg supermarket), house number 110; arch. L.A. Naydenkova and L.A. Pavlova ).

Along the buildings appeared a pedestrian boulevard with unusual flower beds.

Regional Center for Culture and Folk Art

In 1967, in the square between Kosmonavtov Street, Tsiolkovsky Street and the passage of houses No. 50–62 on ul. Cosmonauts (today it is called Markov Square ) was built the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions (house No. 54a). After reconstruction in 2005 of the main hall with 723 seats, it becomes the Regional Palace of Culture. In accordance with the Decree of the Head of Administration of the Lipetsk Region No. 139 dated 04/29/09 as a result of the liquidation of the Regional House of Folk Arts and the Regional Palace of Culture [1] . Today it is the largest cultural center for the revival, development, study and preservation of the cultural traditions of the Lipetsk region. In the creative departments of OCCST there are more than 100 cultural and leisure specialists. More than 30 groups of various genres are successfully conducting their creative activities on its basis: choreographic, choral, orchestral, visual and decorative and applied arts, folklore, and theater. The Lipetsk regional center of culture and folk art organizes and conducts regional, interregional, all-Russian festivals, shows, contests, exhibitions, conducts active publishing, carries out the preparation, compilation and production of methodological and repertoire literature. Large regional events and concerts are held here. In addition, there is a small hall with 220 seats, where seminars, conferences and other small events are held.

Russian time

In 2006 - 2008, six residential buildings were built - annexes to student dormitories (houses No. 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26). The hostels were turned towards the Cosmonaut Street, and the new architecture hid them (many trees, including willows , were cut down for this purpose). In the future, it is planned to build a complex in the courtyard, and the hostels themselves will also be added.

By July 2009, it is planned to open an athletics arena with 500 seats in the area of school No. 55 (its address is 16a Kosmnanavtov street) [2] .

Note

On some modern maps of Lipetsk, the section of Kosmonavtov Street, passing from Cosmonauts Square to Moskovskaya Street between the 10th and 9th microdistricts , is mistakenly depicted as Vermisheva Street . In the mid-1970s, it was planned to assign this site the name of the Hero of the Soviet Union, cosmonaut V. I. Patsaev (1933-1971), who died in June 1971 with the crew of the Soyuz-11 spacecraft during descent from orbit after completion space flight. For unknown reasons, the appropriation did not take place and this section remained part of Kosmonavtov Street, but the houses on both sides are addressed along Vermisheva Street , 9th Micro-District and Moskovskaya Street .
