Biography
D. I. Barashev was born on October 19, 1920 in the village of Knyazhevo (now the Morshansky district of the Tambov region ) into a peasant family.
In the Red Army since 1939. In 1941 he graduated from the Taganrog Aviation School. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941.
On the night of September 5, 1942, after a successful bombardment of the military and military-industrial facilities of Budapest (the capital of Hungary , Germany ’s allies), an aircraft under the command of D.I. The crew was forced to leave the plane by parachute. Dmitry Barashev landed near a railway station in a suburb of Budapest , but could not find any of his crew members. In order not to fall into the hands of the enemy, the pilot hid in a carriage with coal, which stood in the way of the train, on which he miraculously managed to get to occupied Belarus . Here he escaped from the train, fell into the forest, where he met the partisans. Having crossed the front line, Barashev came to his unit, and a few days later he again took to the air to carry out the next combat mission.
The commanding officer of the 752nd Bomber Aviation Regiment (24th Aviation Division, Long-Range Aviation ), Senior Lieutenant Dmitry Barashev, by February 1943, made 181 sorties to bombard the enemy’s rear, including 145 at night.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 25, 1943, for the exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to this, Lieutenant Dmitry Ivanovich Barashev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " .
Returning from a combat mission, Dmitry Barashev died in a plane crash on the night of August 19 to 20, 1943, 40 km south of Lipetsk (not far from the village of Borinskoye ), together with two members of his crew (navigator-radio operator Lieutenant V. N. Travin and the shooter- radio operator foreman N. S. Podchufarov). Pilots are buried with all military honors in the city of Lipetsk in the square near Revolution Square , where an obelisk monument is installed.

- In the homeland of D.I. Barashev in the city of Morshansk, Tambov Region , in the exposition of the local history museum, there is a stand dedicated to the glorious fellow countryman.
- May 21, 1957 in Lipetsk in honor of Barashev named passage (now does not exist). On March 2, 1990, part of the Communal Square of Lipetsk was allocated to Barashev Street .
- At the house, located on the corner of Barashev and Pervomaiskaya streets, a memorial plaque dedicated to Barashev is installed.
