Born December 28, 1718 in Madrid . The eldest son of Jacobo Francisco Fitz-James Stewart and Burg (1696-1738), 2nd Duke of Berwick and 2nd Duke of Lirius Heric (1696-1738), and his wife, Catalina Ventura Colon de Portugal (1690-1739), 9th Duchess de Veragua and 8th Duchess de la Vega.
In 1738, after the death of his father, Jacobo Francisco inherited his Spanish and Jacobite titles.
He served as Admiral of India. In 1741 - Colonel of the Asturian Regiment. Cavalier of the Neapolitan Order of St. January. In 1743 he received the rank of brigadier general of the Spanish army, and in 1747 he was promoted to lieutenant general .
Marriage and offspring
On July 26, 1738, in Alba de Tormes, he married Maria Teresa de Silva and Alvarez de Toledo (May 6, 1716 - May 5, 1790), the eldest daughter of Manuel Maria de Silva and Mendoza, 10-Count de Galve (1677-1728) , and Maria Theresa Alvarez de Toledo and Aro, 11th Duchess de Alba de Tormes (1691-1755).
The only children who came of age were Carlos Bernardo Fitz-James Stewart and Silva (March 25, 1752, Lyria - September 7, 1787, Madrid ), the 4th Duke of Berwick and the 4th Duke of Lyria-i-Herica. He was born in the city of Liria , where his parents lived in the villa de Liria, which later became known as the Palacio of the Dukes of Liria, in 1751-1753. Death
Jacobo Francisco Eduardo Fitz-James Stewart and Colon de Portugal died at the age of 66 on September 30, 1785 in Valencia, and was succeeded by his only son, Carlos Bernard Fitz-James Stewart and Silva, 4th Duke of Berwick and 4th Duke de Lyria y Herika .
