Biography

In 1907 she graduated from the women's school in Bauska , then the Jelgava Commercial School (1908-1910).

During the First World War in 1915 she lived in evacuation in the Vyatka province and in Arkhangelsk , where she worked as a librarian. From 1925 to 1927 she continued her studies in France, Italy and Algeria.

Since 1927 she lived in Riga, was a modern woman and an active defender of women's rights, often thanks to her literary work. In the 1920s and 1930s, she was accused of violating public morality. She loved to shock society. She adhered to socialist ideas, in her works she often spoke about the role of women in capitalist society, described civil marriage as legalized prostitution .

She gave private lessons for girls who could not afford education, taught Latvian, Russian, German and English languages ​​and literature.

During the German occupation in 1941, she was arrested and imprisoned for nine months. From 1942 to 1946 she worked in trade.

During the war, all of her manuscripts were destroyed, L. Zamaych could not survive this and fell into insanity. During her walks through the streets of Old Riga, Zamich continued to write poetry, but never printed them.

Creativity

She made her debut in 1917, publishing a collection of poems “My soul” (“Mana dvēsele”). Then came the poetry collections “L'interieur” (1920), “The Northern Sun” (“Ziemeļu saule”, 1921), “69 ° 33'11 ″ north latitude” (“69 ° 33'11 ″ ziemeļu platuma", 1923) , “Wandering the Streets” (“Ielu maldos”, 1923), “I, Lucia Zamaic, and my words” (“Es, Lūcija Zamaiča, un mani vārdi”, 1923), “Cabaret of Love” (“Mīlas kabarejs”, 1930).

L. Zamaich also wrote the novels: “The Gypsy and Three Ladies” (Čigāns un trīs dāmas, 1923), The Diary of Libya (Līvijas dienas grāmata, 1925).

Occupying a democratic position, she opposed the bourgeoisie, philistinism, and against lies in family life. The realistic novel “Director Kazrag” (“Direktors Kazrags”, 1927) is devoted to exposing the vices of bourgeois society. Some works of L. Zamaych inherent features of eroticism .
