History
The rallying of the artists took place on the basis of the youth reserve "Reserve" - the first non-state enterprise in Saratov, in which Evgeny Solodky held the position of head of the art sector. In 1988, the artists settled in the newly opened Youth House, where they were able to arrange their creative community as an architectural and art center "Yellow Mountain".
The first exhibition of the Yellow Mountain association Active Space (Basement) opened in March 1988. The basement of the building on Kirov Avenue, which used to be a bomb shelter, was turned into an exhibition room by the efforts of enthusiasts. The exposition consisted of a dark hall (the works were examined with a candle in his hand) and light, including paintings, graphic works, art objects, performances. Among the visitors (about 2000 people in three days) were Dmitry Alexandrovich Prigov and Zhanna Aguzarova . On the fourth day, by order of the city party committee, the exhibition was closed, allegedly because the basement did not meet the conditions of the premises for public exhibitions. The artists staged the “funeral” of the exhibition together with the rock club - taking one work and a candle one after another, they took the work out of the basement and marched along Kirov Avenue under the funeral march.
The group held several exhibitions in Saratov and in the Central House of Artists in Moscow, and ended in 1990 after the departure of Misha Le Eugene and Eugene Solodky to Europe.

Quotes
“As such, Yellow Mountain arose in the winter of 1987 thanks to ongoing sales exhibitions that proved that sincere art has no price. The core of Zh.G. was young architects who were identical in their dissimilarity to each other and who believed that realism is very good, especially when it is subjective. " [one]
“The workshop has become a center of universal attraction. Theatric ATX was located in the same building. And here came young poets and filmmakers. Everyone came to tea, see new works and talk about art. And in between, they arranged chess tournaments and boxing fights. All in all, it was a fun time! ... One way or another, those years, from 1987 to 1990, are now perceived as a period of general Saratov happiness. ” [2]
