Walter Lübke ( August 22, 1953 - June 2, 2019 ) was a German politician and member of the Christian Democratic Union [2] .

Biography
For 10 years he served as president of municipal supervision in the prefecture ( Regierungsbezirk ) of Kassel , one of three in the federal state of Hesse [3] [4] .
Lübke was known for his views in support of migrants [5] and was threatened with death after he told a public meeting that those who oppose the provision of assistance to refugees could leave the country. [6]
On June 2, 2019, Lubka was found dead on the terrace of his residence in the village of Istha. He was shot in the head at close range [3] .
On June 15, 2019, the 45-year-old suspect was arrested. It was reported that he adhered to extreme right-wing political views and had connections with the terrorist group Combat 18 . It was also reported that the suspect had previously been convicted of attacks with a knife and a bomb against people associated with ethnic minorities in Germany [7] [8] [9] .
