Teng Shanghai ( Chinese р уп , pinyin : Téng Shànghuá , b . 1964) is a Chinese and American computer scientist, winner of prestigious international awards.

Biography
Born in 1964 in Beijing .
In 1981, he entered Shanghai Transport University , which he graduated in 1985, receiving degrees in two areas at once: “ Informatics ” and “ Electrical Engineering ”. Since he was among the 18 best graduates, he received a World Bank scholarship to continue his education abroad, and already in the fall of 1985 he entered a magistracy at the University of Southern California in the USA .
During his graduate studies, he solved a number of open problems in the field of parallel algorithms and cryptography. In 1988, his supervisor, Gary Miller, changed his job at Carnegie Mellon University , and Ten Shanghai was also transferred there. There, in 1991, he defended his dissertation for a Ph.D. [1] .
After that, he worked at Xerox PARC , Ames Research Center , Intel , IBM Almaden Research Center , Akamai Technologies , Microsoft Research [2] .
For the next two decades, he combined theoretical studies with practical problems in various fields. Fifteen patent holders.
In 2002-2009 he was a professor of Computer Science at Boston University [3] , and since 2009 - at the University of Southern California [4] [3] .
