Club career

Silas was born in Lisbon , Portugal . He made his debut in professional football at the local Atletico Portuguese . In 1998 he moved to Spain, becoming a player in the Ceuta club. He also went on loan to the Elche Club, which plays in the Segund . The player’s first major success was his appearance on the team of Unian Leiria , with whom he twice finished in the first six of the Portuguese Premier League , also reaching the Portuguese Cup final in 2003. During the 2001/02 season , he played under the guidance of well-known specialist Jose Mourinho , and the next year he first played for the Portuguese national team in a friendly victory match with Macedonia (1: 0) on April 3, 2003. Later he played twice more against Paraguay and Bolivia . In July 2003, Silas signed a contract with a newcomer to the English Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers for an initial contribution of £ 1 million. [2]
