The titular bishop of Comana di Armenia from July 11, 1935 to November 30, 1937. The patriarch is the Catholicos of the House of Cilician Armenian Catholics from November 30, 1937 to August 25, 1962. The prefect and prefect of the Holy Congregation for the Propaganda of Faith from June 18, 1958 to July 18, 1960 and from July 18, 1960 to October 19, 1970. Biography
Since 1906 he studied in Rome . He was ordained to the priesthood on December 23, 1917 . In 1919 - 1921 he served in Tiflis , then in Rome, where he taught at the Armenian College.
Since 1935 - bishop (appointed to the titular department of the Comana of Armenia on July 11 , received episcopal consecration on July 21 from the auxiliary bishop of Rome, Sergius Ter-Abrahamyan, who led the Armenian Catholic clergy of the Roman diocese).
On November 30, 1937, he was elected Patriarch of Cilicia and all Catholic Catholics at the Armenian Catholic Synod (papal confirmation of the election was received on December 13 ). He took the name of Gregory-Peter XV.
On February 18, 1946, Pope Pius XII bestowed upon him the dignity of a cardinal priest with the title of San Bartolomeo .
From July 2, 1955 to June 18, 1958, he was President of the Church Council for Public Affairs.
At the 1958 conclave, Patriarch Agadzhanyan was one of the papabili (candidates for election as pope) and, as subsequently elected John XXIII confirmed, almost gained the number of votes necessary for the election.
From June 1, 1958 to July 18, 1960, he was a pro-prefect, and from July 18, 1960 to October 19, 1970, Cardinal Prefect of the Holy Congregation for the Propaganda of Faith .
Participated in the Second Vatican Council .
On August 25, 1962, he left the post of Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church, retaining the honorary patriarchal title.
Since October 22, 1970 - Cardinal Bishop of Albano .
