1000 hryvnias is the face value of banknotes that should begin circulation in Ukraine from October 25, 2019, as well as the face value of UNR banknotes that went in 1918-1920.

On March 1, 1918, the Central Rada adopted the Law “On the monetary unit, coin beating, and printing of state credit tickets,” which introduced a new monetary unit, the hryvnia, which was divided into 100 steps and amounted to 1/2 ruble. On March 30, 1918, the Law on the Issue of 100 Million Marks of the State Treasury was adopted.
During 1918, banknotes of 1000 hryvnias were printed in Berlin . The sketch of the bill was made by I. Mozolevsky. The project was completed after the proclamation of the hetman , led by Pavel Skoropadsky . The banknote was printed on yellowish paper, measuring 198 mm x 125 mm, the main color is blue.

Talk about the introduction of a banknote of 1000 hryvnias has been raised repeatedly.
In the early 1990s, the artist Vasily Lopata suggested depicting Metropolitan Pyotr Mogila on a banknote of 1000 hryvnias [1] .
In January 2011 [2] and November 2013 [3], the then Deputy Chairman of the NBU Vladimir Krotyuk announced the possibility of introducing a banknote of 1000 hryvnias.
The banknote in a presentation version with the image of Panteleimon Kulish , but without indicating the face value, the National Bank issued in 2008 [4] . It was this presentation banknote that was considered as one of the possible options for a 1000-hryvnia banknote in 2011, but it did not materialize into reality [5] .
On December 22, 2016, the head of the NBU Valery Gontareva announced plans to introduce banknotes with a face value of 1000 hryvnias. She assured that there would be no portrait of Panteleimon Kulish on the bill of this denomination [6] .
On June 25, 2019, the NBU press service announced the introduction of a banknote with a face value of 1,000 hryvnia from October 25, 2019. The front side of the new banknote depicts Vladimir Vernadsky . On the reverse side is an image of the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine [7] .
