Title

The toponym Bag is derived from the Mongolian bug , translating as small . A variant of Biyuk-Uzen [5] , or from the Persian bug -garden [6], is also given . It is also widely believed that Baga is not translated from any of the languages used in historical time in Crimea [7] . In the reference book “Volosts and important selenia of European Russia” for 1886, the river is recorded as a Lanikest creek [8] .

Geography

The hydrologist Nikolai Vasilievich Rukhlov at the beginning of the 20th century, describing the Baginsky watercourse , noted its low water availability and the lack of a constant flow of water in the upper reaches, which he called Biyuk-Uzen . In the middle course, several small springs were recorded, which gave water to the lower part of the stream [9] . The river flows in a general direction to the south-west [10] , in the lower reaches forming a picturesque gorge, sometimes called the “canyon of the Baga river” with “Three-cascade waterfall” [7] . According to the reference book “Surface water bodies of Crimea” by the river there are 5 nameless tributaries [4] , Rukhlov gives the names of some from the bottom up: Kurt-Kayadere , Furun-dere and Javazla [9] . It falls into the Chernorechenskoe reservoir (previously it flowed into the Black River a little to the south [11] ). The water protection zone of the river is set at 50 m [12] .
