History
People lived on the territory of the present since prehistoric times, as evidenced by finds of the Mesolithic period , a Bronze Age chest and a storage of bronze weapons of Celtic origin.
In the 9th century, the Trezegidi family erected a castle in the place of one of the meanders of the He River on a high bank that controls the movement of the river. In the XVI century it was plundered, and at the beginning of the XX century it was almost completely dismantled. The surviving elements of the former castle became part of the Manez Coz farm. During the Religious Wars, Pleben, who supported the Catholic League , suffered at the hands of supporters of Henry IV - many houses were burned and plundered, about a hundred prominent citizens were executed or arrested.
The construction of the Nantes-Brest Canal, begun in 1806 and completed in 1833, led to significant economic growth, facilitating, inter alia, the transportation of oil shale mined in the vicinity of Plebin.
