Hypena

Hypena (Latin) is a genus of Lepidoptera from the subfamily of scapulae . Common in Africa, Eurasia, North and South America, Australia and Oceania [1] [2] . Antennae of males are small and pubescent with cilia. A sharp frontal tuft of hairs is developed on the head. The breast is exactly covered with scales. Abdomen with dorsal tufts of setae. Middle and hind tibia slightly hairy. Front wings with acute and concave apex [3] [4] .

Classification

The first representatives of this genus were described as early as 1758 by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in his classic work The Nature System under the original names Phalaena proboscidalis Linnaeus, 1758 and Phalaena rostralis Linnaeus, 1758. The Hypena genus was first described in 1802 by the German naturalist Franz Schrank ( Franz von) Paula Schrank , 1747–1835), who chose Phalaena proboscidalis as a type species [4] . Includes several synonyms, including Bomolocha . As part of the genus:

Security Status

The 2008 edition of the Red Book of the Moscow Region included such a rare species as Upenka thickened linear ( Hypena crassalis ) [5] , but in the third edition of 2018, this species was excluded from the list of protected species [6] .

Some species according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) are considered to be completely extinct ( Extinct species ,   ):
