Lachinov, Nikolai Alexandrovich

Nikolai Aleksandrovich [1] Lachinov (January 4, 1834 - not earlier than 1917, St. Petersburg) - Russian military historian and teacher, editor of the Military Collection and Russian Disabled. Came from the old Russian clan of the Lachinovs . N. A. Lachinov is the elder brother of the physicist D. A. Lachinov and the chemist P. A. Lachinov , and the youngest is the writer P. A. Lachinova , published under the pseudonym P. Letnev.

Biography

A pupil of the 1st cadet corps , from which he was promoted to ensign in the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment from September 13, 1851.

1854 - entered the Imperial Military Academy and after graduating from it in 1856 was seconded to the General Staff .

1859 - Ya. I. Rostovtsev invited a teacher of tactics and military history to the Polotsk cadet corps , where he served until 1863, when he retired.

Returning to the service of the military training department in 1865, N. A. Lachinov took the place of a tutor and then a full-time teacher at the 1st Military Pavlovsky School and held it until 1872, when he was appointed assistant editor-in-chief of the Military collection ” and “ Russian disabled person ” , in the same year received the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree.

In 1869, with the rank of colonel, he taught tactics in the Page Corps [2] .

August 30, 1882 - promoted to major general , and in 1893 he was appointed editor-in-chief of the above publications. Produced in 1894 as lieutenant general , N. A. Lachinov remained editor-in-chief of The Military Collection and The Russian Disabled until 1899, when he was appointed a supernumerary member of the Military Scientific Committee; in 1903, he was appointed to be at the disposal of the Minister of War with admission to the Guards Infantry. In 1906, he was promoted to general from infantry with resignation.

N. A. Lachinov was the first to give a response to Leo Tolstoy ’s novel War and Peace . (Concerning the last novel of Count Tolstoy // Russian invalid. 1868. No. 96/10 Apr. /). It remains a mystery to literary scholars why the reviewer did not respond to the desire expressed by the writer to develop a polemic dialogue.

He was well acquainted with M. I. Dragomirov , A. N. Kuropatkin , M. D. Skobelev , with the author of the history of the Caspian Regiment (1911), later known as the “white” general A. A. Kurbatov [3] , whose relative through the Shultsev family he appeared [4] , - with many. other prominent people of the era. He was a responsive man, not indifferent to the distress of his neighbor. Letters and petitions to the Censorship Committee regarding the publication of the works of sisters and brothers speak of the latter (it should be noted that he contributed to the publication of a large number of articles on natural science topics: 51 articles by D. A. Lachinov [5] , several articles by P. A. Lachinov [6] and etc.), - to various departments on the subject of the fate of nephews, close people, - letters to the outstanding Russian lawyer N. S. Tagantsev , with whom N. A. Lachinov was on a short leg.

Among others, he had the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree (1878) and St. Stanislav 1st Art. (1885).
