Content
History
Until 2015, the canton consisted of the communes Il-Tüdi , Combrit , Plomer , Pont-l'Abbe , Saint-Jean-Trolimon , Tregennec and Tremeoc .
As a result of the reform of 2015 [1], the composition of the canton was changed: five communes of the abolished canton of Gilvinek were added to the Pont-l'Abbe commune.

The canton consists of communes (population according to the National Statistics Institute for 2016 ):
- Gilvinek (2 684 people)
- Loktudi (4 051 people)
- Penmarsh (5 352 people)
- Plobannalek-Leskonil (3,457 people)
- Pont-l'Abbe (8,183 people)
- Trefiaga (2,393 people)
Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, residents of the canton gave Emmanuel Macron 27.3% of the votes in the 1st round against 20.7% from Jean-Luc Melenchon , 18.8% from Francois Fillon and 13.6% from Marine Le Pen ; in the 2nd round, the canton was defeated by Macron, who received 77.9% of the vote. (2012 Round 1: Francois Hollande - 32.0%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 25.1%, Jean-Luc Melenchon - 13.1%; Round 2: Hollande - 58.1%).
Since 2015, the canton in the Council of the Finistère Department is represented by the Mayor of Pont-l'Abbe Thierry Mavic ( Republicans ) and the member of the council of the Trefiag commune Nathalie Tanneau ( Various Rights ).
