Biography

Bill Hobbs was born July 30, 1949 in the city of Ponce , Puerto Rico .

He graduated from Milton Academy, Harvard College and Harvard Business School with a master's degree in business administration. During his studies, he was seriously engaged in rowing, was a member of the local Harvard Crimson rowing team, and repeatedly participated in various student competitions, in particular in 1969 and 1970 he was a member of the Harvard Eights, who won the traditional Eastern Sprints regatta. He later trained at the Brothers Rowing Club.

In 1968, he joined the main team of the American national team and, thanks to a series of successful appearances, was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City - he could not get into the list of winners, in the offset of the oar steering doubles he finished fifth.

Being among the leaders of the US rowing team, I successfully passed the selection for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich - this time I was the second in the main finals in the main finals, leaving only the team from New Zealand ahead, and thereby won the silver Olympic medal . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career.

Subsequently, he worked in the field of corporate management.

His older brother Franklin Hobbs also achieved some success in rowing, is also the silver medalist of the Olympic Games.
