Mozyr distillery

In 1977, a plant of fodder yeast began to be built on the southern outskirts of Mozyr ^[2] . He began work in 1983. The plant used oil distillation waste from a neighboring Mozyr oil refinery to produce feed protein and protein-vitamin supplements widely used in animal husbandry. By 1987, the plant reached a capacity of 310 thousand tons of products per year. The production of fodder protein from yeast was discontinued in 1994 due to unprofitability in the new economic environment. In 1994-1995, the conversion of the plant to the production of rectified alcohol, vodka, alcoholic beverages and fruit wines began. The first products were received already in 1995, in 1997 a fruit wine production workshop was opened. In 2000, the plant was transformed into the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Combine for the production of medical and alcohol-containing products, Ethanol.” December 16, 2013 RUE “Combine for the production of medical and alcohol-containing products“ Ethanol ”” was transformed into OJSC “Mozyr distillery” ^{[3] [1]} .

The departmental subordination of the enterprise often changed - until November 21, 1985, it was a member of the All-Union Industrial Association for the Production of Protein Substances (VPO Soyuzprombelok) of the Main Directorate of Microbiological Industry under the Council of Ministers of the USSR, then it became subordinate to the Ministry of Medical and Microbiological Industry of the USSR, May 21 1986 joined the Belarusian Scientific and Production Biotechnological Association (NPO Belbiotechnology) of the same ministry, from April 7, 1988 - into the Scientific and Production Goes Association Life Sciences (NGO "Belmedbioprom") of the same ministry, with the May 22, 1990 - under the Ministry of Medical Industry of the USSR ^[2] . After independence, the Republic of Belarus moved to the Belbiopharm concern, in 2011 the enterprise was transferred to the Belgospischeprom concern ^[1] .

In 2014, the plant produced 265.2 thousand decaliters of rectified alcohol from food raw materials, 114.3 thousand decaliters of vodka, 20 thousand decaliters of distilled alcohol, 35 thousand decaliters of five cognacs of 7 kinds, 306, 6 thousand dal fruit fortified wines of 11 denominations ^[1] . In the Republic of Belarus, most of the vodka and alcoholic beverages were sold in Minsk and the Gomel region (approximately 74 thousand decalitres per region), more than half of the fruit wines in the Gomel region (197.7 thousand decalitres). 6.9% of the products were exported (the largest markets are Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan; Turkmenistan purchases rectified spirit, and the rest of the country purchases finished products) ^[1] .

As of January 1, 2015, the plant’s capacity is 689 thousand decalitres of vodka and alcoholic beverages per year, 915 thousand decaliters of rectified alcohol, 100 thousand decaliters of cognac, 1420 thousand decaliters of fruit wine ^[1] . According to the results of 2014, the use of enterprise capacities in the main areas of activity amounted to less than 40% ^[1] .

In 2013-2014, the plant’s management organized a criminal scheme with the goal of tax evasion of 25.5 billion rubles ($ 2.5 million). In 2015, the plant became part of the Minsk Crystal Group holding ^[4] . Since 2016, the company is in the process of rehabilitation (financial recovery) ^[5] .

The plant is a resident of the free economic zone "Gomel-Raton" ^[1] .
