History
In the "List of Populated Places of the Russian Empire", published in 1879, the settlement is mentioned as the village of Potanikha (Podelye) of the Kargopol district (1st camp), on the Onega River, located 19 miles from the county town of Kargopol . There were 2 yards in the village and 14 people lived (5 men and 9 women) [2] .
According to 1920, there were 4 households and 11 people lived (3 men and 8 women). Administratively, the village was part of the Olkhov district council of the Usachevsky volost of the Kargopol district of the Vologda province [3] .
Geography
The village is located in the southwestern part of the Arkhangelsk region, in the southern zone of the middle taiga [4] , on the right bank of the Onega River, at a distance of about 17 kilometers (in a straight line) northeast of the city of Kargopol, the administrative center of the region.
