Doom
On July 14, 1931, the Nantes weaving mill bought a steamer for an excursion of its workers and their families. On July 15, 1931, at 7:00, Saint-Philibert departed from the pier. Since many passengers started seasickness, most of them (namely 28 people) remained on the island of Noirmoutier . When the ship departed from the pier on the return trip, a large wave knocked out 4 glasses in the first-class cabin. After fright, the passengers rushed to the starboard side , and the ship rolled over due to their weight.
