Reynaldo Gutierrez Reyes ( Spanish: Reynaldo Gutierrez Reyes ; 1933 , Manila - February 14, 2016 , Baltimore ) - American pianist of Filipino descent.

He grew up in the city of Alitagtag ( Batangas province), where his father was mayor. In 1947 he entered the conservatory of the Catholic University of the Philippines , where he studied with Julio Esteban Anguita . After completing the course in 1951, he received a grant from the French government to continue his education at the Paris Conservatory , where his teachers were Marguerite Long , Jean Doyen and Jacques Fevrier . After graduating from the conservatory in 1957, he moved to Baltimore, where by that time his teacher Esteban was teaching, and studied at the Peabody Conservatory with Leon Fleischer and Mechislav Munts . In 1962, he shared the third prize at the Busoni International Piano Competition ; in 1965, he won fifth place at the Marguerite Long International Piano Competition . Three times - in 1957, 1961 and 1965. - was recognized in the Philippines as the Musician of the Year [1] .

At various times he gave concerts as a soloist in Europe and Asia. In 1997, he performed in St. Petersburg as one of the accompanists of the Second International Congress of Cellists [2] . For 30 years, he also performed as part of the Baltimore Trio. Reyes' solo programs were based mainly on the works of I.S. Bach , Mozart , Beethoven , Chopin , Debussy , Rachmaninov , Prokofiev .

After briefly teaching at the Peabody Conservatory (where David Büchner was among his students), he worked at near Baltimore from 1962 until the end of his life, and married his student, pianist Christina Giorgilli. In later years, he also taught at the .

He died on February 14, 2016 from a stroke in Baltimore.
