Teke Oruh ( born Teke Oruh ; genus. , ) - Nigerian boxer , representative of the heavy weight category. He played for the Nigeria boxing team in the late 1990s, the bronze medalist of the All-African Games in Johannesburg . In the period 2001-2010 he also boxed at a professional level.

Biography

Teke Oruh was born on August 8, 1978 in Port Harcourt , Rivers , Nigeria .

Amateur career

He started his boxing career as an amateur. The greatest success at the adult international level was achieved in the 1999 season, when he entered the main squad of the Nigerian national team and attended the All-African Games in Johannesburg , from where he brought the bronze dignity award won in the classification of the heavyweight category - he was stopped at the semi-finals by the representative of Mauritius Michael Makake [1] .

Professional career

Subsequently, Oruh moved permanently to the United States and in July 2001 he successfully debuted on a professional level, sending his opponent knocked out in the first round. For a long time he went without defeat, although he entered the ring relatively rarely, and the level of his opposition was not very high. He performed under the nickname "African Prince" ( African Prince ).

The first loss in his professional career was in November 2007 from American Joey Abel (17-1) - the confrontation between them lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result, judges decided by majority decision to Abel.

In November 2008, he met with another American heavyweight Manuel Quesada (24-4) and this time lost a unanimous decision.

In October 2010 he boxed in Russia in the Chekhov Palace of Sports " Olympic " in a fight with the undefeated Russian Alexander Povetkin (19-0). He lost by knockout in the fifth round and at that decided to end his professional career [2] .

In total, at the pro-prince, Orukh spent 18 fights, of which 14 won (including 6 ahead of schedule), 3 lost, while in one case a draw was recorded.
