The Stormies is the first Greek supergroup [1] to perform rock and beat music. All participants in the project gained fame either before The Stormies, or in groups that existed in parallel. The ensemble was also notable for the fact that, musically, it was the first Greek rock band to use guitar solos , which were also enhanced by applying various effects like “ Fuzz ”. Another distinguishing feature was the use of two drummers . The most famous performer in the group was Demis Roussos .

History
Create Group
In early 1965, one of the most famous Greek managers and producers, Nikos Mastorakis, stopped working with the most famous and successful at that time Greek rock band The Forminx . One of the goals of creating the group was to organize a group that could successfully confront and compete with the leaders of Greek rock music of the first half of the 1960s - the band The Forminx [2] [3] , and Nikos said that Stormies are an example of a group created for “Retaliation, not out of need”, implying that the nature of “retaliation” was to “surpass any group you were out of the game with” [1] .
Using his fame and a large level of influence on Greek rock culture, including due to the fact that Mastorakis not only produced the groups, but also wrote lyrics for many of them, he decided to assemble the country's first supergroup , whose musicians would be one way or another are known and would have experience performing in other popular bands. The central figure in the group was Timios Petru, who was well acquainted with Nikos, as he began as the main vocalist and guitarist of The Forminx, but due to creative differences, he was forced to leave the group (Timios sought a harder and more guitar sound, unlike Vangelis , who relied on a softer sound with an emphasis on keys). The "golden" composition of the group was:
- Alekos Glykas ( born Alekos Glykas, Greek Αλέκος Γλύκας ) - Guitar (from The Charms )
- Spyros Metaxas ( English Spyros Metaxas , Greek Σπύρος Μεταξάς ) - Bass , Guitar, Vocals (from We Five and The Sound)
- Thimios Petrou ( born Thimios Petrou , Greek Θύμιος Πέτρου ) - Vocals, guitar (from The Forminx and The Minis )
- Makis Saliaris ( born Makis Saliaris , Greek Μάκης Σαλιάρης ) - Drums , drums (from We Five)
- Lucas Sideras ( English: Lucas Sideras , Greek Λουκάς Σιδεράς ) - (from The Minis in the subsequent Aphrodite's Child )
In addition to these musicians, the members of the group at different times played
- Demis Roussos - Bass
- Panagiotis Zachariou ( English Panagiotis Zachariou , Greek Παναγιώτης Ζαχαρίου ) - Bass
- Kostas Caridas ( English Kostas Karydas , Greek Κώστας Καρύδας ) - Vocal
- Nikos Ignatiadis ( born Nikos Ignatiadis , Greek Νίκος Ιγνατιάδη ς) - keyboards , electric organ.
Demis Roussos became the most famous member of the collective, although he appeared in the group shortly before its disintegration, so he did not have a significant impact on her work. During the performances, Roussos did not sing, but only played the bass guitar. There is a known case when Timos Petru lost his voice due to laryngitis before the concert. As a vocalist, it was decided to use Demis Russos. They performed only one, but very famous, song “The House of the Rising Sun ”. Only after Demis was promised to turn off the light so that no one could see the vocalist, he agreed to sing, as he was very shy of his voice, and, in his own opinion, his voice did not match the format of the song. As a result, the performance took place in twilight, although Mastorakis noted that Roussos performed the song unsuccessfully [3] .
1965-1966
The band's first single was recorded quite quickly. It was a 45-speed record with two songs Dilly dilly [4] and Teenager's love [5] - composer Spyros Metaksas, lyricist Nikos Mastorakis. In October 1965, The Stormies collaborated with Zoe Kurokli [6] and released a single that contained The girl of ye ye [7] and Let's shake together [8] , but Metaxas was no longer on this record because he is in army, and Panagiotis Zachariou took his place. For some time, Spyros could combine service and play in a group, but gradually the political situation in Greece began to escalate. At the end of 1965, the father of Makis Saliaris rented a room for the club, which gets its name as the band The Stormies itself [9] .
The club has become the main venue for performances. In 1966, the last single by Try, try, try [10] and Drum in the storm [11] was released . The composition "Try Try Try" became an extremely popular garage song of the 1960s [12] . Officially, Metaxas is listed as the author of the music, but he was in the army at that time, and Glycas played solo for him.
December 31, 1965 was recorded the last video of the group in the strongest composition. On January 2, 1966, the group participated in a big concert in Thessaloniki . Petru was on the main vocals, but the main guitarist of the band Metaxas, although he was present in the hall, did not take part in the concert. Soon, the threat to be in the army loomed over the other participants, and as a result, the group was disbanded. In May 1966, Glikas made an attempt to reform the remnants of the collective and collected the last composition, which in addition to him included Nikos Ignatiadis, Makis Saliaris and Demis Russos. However, having existed for several weeks, the group broke up completely.
