Hector Nature

Hector-Nature (Zenit-2M / HX) - a series of civilian Earth remote sensing devices based on military satellite reconnaissance Zenit-2M .

By order of civil contractors, Zenit-2M (Hector) military vehicles were launched for civilian purposes. Subsequently, the Fram and Resource-F series devices appeared.

For the separation of vehicles launched for military and civilian purposes, the words Nature - Hector-Nature, or the letters "HX" (national economic) - Zenit-2M / HX were used.

All satellites of the Hector-Nature series were launched under the official name "Cosmos". The TASS launches were reported in unchanged wording since 1962, where the phrase was added at the end: “The incoming information is transferred to the State Research and Production Center Nature [1] for processing and use”

Content

Development

These satellites were designed at the CF TsKBEM [2] and manufactured at the Progress plant .

Composition

Satellites consisted of service and input modules based on spacecraft Vostok . A spherical descent vehicle returned cameras and film to Earth at the end of the mission. Spaceships had a mass of 6300 kg. Power came from solar panels, which were designed for flights lasting up to 12 to 13 days.

The Zenit-2M / HX satellites could carry autonomous scientific and technical modules Nauka in front of the descent module [3]

Operation

All launches were made from the Plesetsk cosmodrome .
