Jean I de Chatillon (Count of Porciena)

Jean I de Châtillon ( fr. Jean I de Châtillon ; d. July 15, 1389) - Count of Porciennes from 1342, the lord of Tours and Nelya.

Biography

Born between 1324 and 1331. Son of Gaucher VII de Chatillon and his wife Jeanne de Conflans.

Knighted in 1346.

He was an ally of the Duke of Brittany, Charles de Blois (his relative) in his war with Jean de Montfort .

The participant of the Hundred Years War on the side of the king of France. From 1360 to 1368 - in England as a hostage, released for a ransom of 10 thousand francs.

In 1372 he participated in the campaign of Duguesclin in Brittany against the Earl of Salisbury .

He died between 1381 and 1389.

Family

The first wife is Jeanne d'Aprremont, daughter of Tom d'Aprremont, Senor de Chaumont. Second wife (wedding no later than 1350) - Jacqueline de Dammartin, Dame de Beaumont-le-Bois, daughter of Count Dammartin Jean III de Three.

From the first or second wife, daughter:

  • Jeanne (d. 1371), lady de Chaumont-en-Porsen, from 1368 the wife of Robert de Bétune , Viscount Mo.

From the second wife, children:

  • Jean II de Chatillon, Count of Porciennes, Senior of Tours and Nelya. Under an agreement of October 10, 1400, he sold the county of Porciennes to the Duke Louis of Orleans.
  • Margarita, the first husband is Charles de Savoise, the second husband is Guillaume de Fael, the Viscount de Breteuil. The heiress of the county of Dammarten, which subsequently received her son Jean de Fael.
