Chow mein

Chow mein - Chinese steer-fry noodles , the name is the romanization "chāu-mèing" of the Taishan dialect . The dish is popular with huaqiao and is present on the menu of most Chinese restaurants [1] . It is especially popular in India [2] , Nepal [3] , Great Britain [4] and USA [5] .

Etymology

The words chow mein mean “fried noodles”, chow means “fried” (or “fried”) and maine means “noodles”.
