History
The settlement from which the city later grew was founded in 1853.
Geographical position
The city is located in the southeastern part of the department, in the mountainous terrain of the Eastern Cordillera , on the right bank of the River Kussiana, approximately 76 kilometers east-southeast (ESE), from the town of Tunja , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 793 meters above sea level [1] .
The municipality of Paharito borders on the north-east the territory of the municipality of Labransagrande , on the north-west - on the municipality of Akitania , on the south - on the territory of the department of Casanare . The area of the municipality is 322 km ² [2] .
Population
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2015 was 1,719 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by year:

According to the 2005 census, men made up 53% of the population of Paharito, women - respectively 47%. Racially whites and mestizos accounted for 99.9% of the city’s population; Blacks , mulattoes, and Riesale - 0.1% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 84.2%.
Economy
60.4% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are enterprises of the trade sector, 30.9% are service enterprises, 7.4% are industrial enterprises, 1.3% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
