Post War Story

After the war, the 2nd Guards Artillery Perekop Red Banner Order of the Order of Suvorov division was withdrawn from the territory of the Baltic States in the Leningrad Military District , the city of Pushkin . The composition of its brigades after the war underwent some changes, and their numbering changed - in 1946 it consisted of 5 brigades: the 4th light (remaining 42th Guards heavy mortar) remaining in its composition from the war, 5th a howitzer and 6th heavy howitzer, 19th cannon, as well as the 165th high-power howitzer transferred from the 28th artillery division and 39th Guards mortar. By the early 1960s, all of these brigades were either disbanded or rolled up to the level of regiments. At the same time, in the 1970s-1980s, part of the regiments of the division were again deployed in brigades [5] .

The composition of the 2nd Guards Artillery Division ( military unit 25780) for 1990 [1] :

  • 287th Guards Heavy Howitzer Artillery Brigade, military unit 51533 ( Pavlovsk )
  • 268th Guards cannon artillery brigade, military unit 17404 (Pavlovsk)
  • 285th Howitzer Artillery Brigade, military unit 93573 ( Toksovo )
  • 457th guard howitzer artillery regiment, military unit 24451 ( Pushkin )
  • 463rd Guards Rocket Artillery Regiment, military unit 25756 (Pushkin)
  • 258th anti-tank artillery regiment, military unit 11209 (Pavlovsk)
  • reconnaissance artillery regiment, military unit 96226 (Pavlovsk)

In 1993, the division was disbanded, and its battle flag , form and honorary names were transferred to the 34th Artillery Division.
