Biography
A student of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1868β1874). He received medals from the Academy of Arts: a small silver (1871), a large silver medal (1872), a small gold (1873) for the Exchange project ; big gold medal (1875) for the program "Project of the Roman Catholic Church for the cemetery . " The title of class artist of the 1st degree (1875). [1] In 1876, a Bavarian citizen Ludwig Urlaub was allowed to enter Russian citizenship.
He was left (1875) a pensioner of the Academy for 6 years, of which 2 years he should spend in Russia in practical classes. Sent abroad for 4 years (1878) to improve as a pensioner of the Academy . [1] The result of overseas retirement was a large number of works: the design of the monument to Victor Emmanuel, a large silver medal awarded in the competition, the design of the market on Sennaya Square in St. Petersburg, the fountain in Peterhof, sketches, watercolors, sketches, many sculptural works.
Awarded the title of academician (1882). [1] Author of structures in Ashgabat , on the Trans-Caspian Railway , at the All-Russian Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod. [2] [3]
In 1896, the Department of Commerce asked to send Academician Urlaub to Nizhny Novgorod for the construction of exhibition facilities and the construction of the All-Russian industry and art exhibition . According to his project, the main pavilion of exhibits of river and sea shipping is being built. The sudden death did not allow the architect to finish the construction, but all the pavilions were created according to his designs. Ludwig Yakovlevich Urlaub died on August 19, 1897 in St. Petersburg. [four]
