History
The Respublika thermal power station was built in accordance with the 1st five-year plan for the development of the national economy of the NRB [1] and was commissioned in 1951 , becoming the largest power station in the country [2] .
The fuel for the station was local brown coals [3] of the Pernik brown coal basin [2]
The station has become one of the largest enterprises in the city [2] [4] [3] .
In 1989, it was decided to transfer Bulgaria to a market economy, after which the National Electric Company was created (which was transferred to the CHP).
In the future, the Toplification Pernik AD joint-stock company was created, which has been in charge of the CHP since that time [5] .
In 2011, the station's capacity was 105 MW [3] .
