Biography
Richard Sanchez is a graduate of the Asuncion River Plate Academy. The main part of this team debuted on February 8, 2016 in a guest match of the Paraguayan championship against Libertad . The hosts won with a score of 3: 1, and Sanchez was replaced already at 22 minutes [2] . Until the end of the year, Richard played for the River in another 18 matches, and on April 24 scored his first (and only one in a season) goal in Example. Despite this, “River Plate” lost to Nacional in the home game with a score of 1: 3 [3] .
In 2017, Richard Sanchez moved to Olympia . He made his debut for the “deans” on April 9 in the winning match Examples against General Diaz (2-0). The newcomer spent all 90 minutes on the field [4] . A week later, marked the first goal for the new team. Olimpia tied 1-1 against Sportivo Trinidense in their field [5] . In the same year, July 12, Sanchez made his debut in an international tournament - the South American Cup . However, at an early stage, Olympia played with their compatriots from Nacional. On that day, the teams played 1: 1, a draw was also recorded in the return game, 2: 2, and as a result, Olimpia flew out due to the greater number of goals conceded at home [6] . A full-fledged debut in an international match for Richard Sanchez took place already in the 2018 Libertadores Cup . On January 22, Olympia played a draw with Uruguayan Montevideo Wanderers . Sanchez in this game was replaced in the 66th minute instead of Walter Bogado [7] .
Together with Olympia, Richard Sanchez three times became the champion of Paraguay, and in 2018 reached the finals of the first Paraguayan Cup .
For the Paraguayan national team, Sanchez made his debut on June 12, 2018 in a friendly match against Japan . Sanchez played 78 minutes and was replaced by William Mendieta . South Americans lost to the opponent with a score of 2: 4 [8] .
Shortly before the start of the America’s Cup in 2019 , Richard Sanchez was urgently called up to the Paraguayan national team to replace his injured partner, Richard Ortiz [9] . Sanchez came on as a substitute in the first game of the group stage against the Qatar national team , which the Paraguayans could not defeat, tied 2-2 [10] . In the second match against Argentina in the 37th minute he opened the scoring, but Messi hit from the penalty spot allowed the teams to play only 1-1.
